TXSS

The Texas survey system, sometimes abbreviated TXSS, is the framework of original land surveys in Texas, which was never part of the federal Public Land Survey System. Texas lands are identified by the original grantee‘s survey, with block and township designations in some regions and an abstract number assigned by county, and historic distances were measured in varas. Locating a Texas tract means placing it within its named survey and abstract rather than a PLSS section.
