BoundaryLogic Trace 2.0

It’s finally here. BoundaryLogic Trace 2.0 is the culmination of months of hard work from our team and with plenty of support from a wide range of land professionals. Today, we are excited to bring a next gen tool to a market that hasn’t had a new solution for plotting metes and bounds legal descriptions for decades.

BoundaryLogic Trace 2.0 will be a completely new experience for anyone who has used the demo product that has been available since November. We took a new approach to the experience and incorporated hundreds of points of user feedback to deliver a new, but familiar experience for those used to GIS, CAD, and plotting software.

What’s New?

Where to start. We have completely overhauled the experience and reimagined how users can interact with our AI-powered plotting, completely optimized our plotting algorithms and AI system to handle larger plots, and have created the systems to export in the most commonly used formats.

Here are the cliff notes:

  1. New mapping experience: manage multiple plots, as layers, at the same time, rotate plots with fine adjustments, overlay PLSS data, and easily change the map styling.
  2. New export files: We now support exports in DXF, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, and shapefile. As well as a documentation focused pdf export that contains call data, user name, notes, and data about each of the tracts in the pdf.
  3. New file management experience: We’ve revamped how we handle documents. Projects can now contain multiple documents which contain your legal descriptions. One of the major issues with the demo system was where the plot was placed. Now, you can add a project address so that you can start with your plots in the right spot.
  4. New processing optimizations: We’ve improved how we handle the plot processing and can now handle much larger plots. We’ve tested up to 200 call legal descriptions with great results.
  5. Manual plotting and editing plots: By the nature of the unstandardized metes and bounds legal descriptions Trace does not have a 100% success rate in plotting legal descriptions. A boundary that follows a river cannot be plotted by the AI alone. So we have introduced manual plotting and editing to allow you to fill in the gaps that the AI may have missed.
  6. New labels and improved sheet view: We now handle all of the information related to a plot and can display it as labels on the plot. You can now see the plot name, monuments, call and bearing labels directly on your plot.
  7. Teams Signing up for the teams tier will allow you to manage your team and their projects from a single account. You can access multiple teams from the new spaces feature that keeps personal and team projects separate.
  8. API Access – Our enterprise customers can collaborate with us to integrate the BoundaryLogic API into their systems.

Where do we go from here?

We have plenty of room for growth. In the near future, we will deliver tools to make editing plots on the map more efficient, introduce custom data overlays, handle a more diverse range of legal description types and continue to optimize the plotting performance.

A couple of features in the pipeline:

  1. More keyboard shortcuts, move, multi-select and undo functions
  2. Custom data uploads and overlays
  3. More metes and bounds legal description types (more complex curves and internal angles)
  4. Optimizations to processing
  5. Full product walkthrough
  6. More file export improvements (deed, easement, and lease data extraction)
