Bearing

A bearing states the direction of a line as an acute angle measured from north or south toward east or west, written in the quadrant form surveyors use, such as N 41 35 E. Bearings in a description may be based on geodetic, astronomic, magnetic, or grid north, and the basis matters: the same line has a different magnetic bearing in different decades because magnetic declination changes over time.
