Point of commencement

The point of commencement, or POC, is an established reference point, such as a PLSS corner, from which a metes and bounds description is tied to the ground. The description commences at the POC and follows one or more courses to reach the point of beginning, which is the first true property corner. The POC locates the tract; the POB starts the boundary.
