Availability: All plans
A credit is one AI plot. Your team holds a pool of them, everyone draws from the same pool, and only one thing in Trace spends them.
What spends a credit
AI Automated Plotting, and nothing else. Each document processed through it burns one credit and the credits badge in the app header drops by one.
Manual plotting is free forever. You can type, plot, save and re-plot a description as many times as you like without touching the pool. Exports are never limited by plan and never spend a credit either, on any plan, including PDF.

Where the pool comes from
Your seat count sets the monthly allocation. A prepaid add-on pool sits on top of it at $1.80 per plot and rolls over for up to 3 months. Both fill one shared team pool rather than a per person allowance, so a busy week for one person draws on the same balance as everybody else’s.
An unsubscribed team has no allocation. The pool card reads that no credits are allocated yet, and the credits badge reads zero.
Reading the pool
Three places show the same balance:
- The credits badge in the app header, on every signed-in page, including inside a project.
- The team plot pool card on the dashboard home, as plots remaining out of the total, with a status badge naming the plan.
- The team plot pool card on Billing, as plots used out of the total, with the renewal date and a segmented bar splitting used, monthly remaining, and add-on remaining.

What moves the number
The balance falls by one per document processed with AI Automated Plotting, and it does not fall for anything else. It refills on the renewal date shown on the billing pool card. An unused prepaid pool rolls over for up to 3 months. Unused plan credits expire when a canceled subscription reaches its end date.
Two warnings fire on their own. Above 80 percent used, Billing shows that credits are running low and names how many are left. At zero it shows that credits are exhausted. Manual plotting stays available in both states, and the alert says so.
When the pool runs out
AI Automated Plotting stops. Everything else keeps working: you can still open projects, plot by hand, and export. To carry on with AI, add seats, buy a prepaid pool, or switch on pay-as-you-go, which bills extra plots at $3.00 each at the end of the cycle. Enterprise teams add to the pool through their account team.
Somebody without billing authority sees the same alert with a button that emails the billing contact, rather than a route to spend money.
