Availability: All plans
Trace keeps the file you uploaded and the raw text of every legal description read from it, and hands either one back on request. This is the paperwork behind a plot, not the plot: exporting the drawing is a separate job.
Before you start
- Any role that can open the project can download from it, including view only members.
Download from the document tables
- In the project menu, click Project Documents.
- On a document row, click Download. The original uploaded file saves. Where a document has no stored file, you get a plain text file instead, holding every legal description in that document separated by blank lines and named after the document.
- On a legal description row, click Download to save that one description’s raw text as a plain text file named after the description.
Download from a layer card
- In the project menu, click Manage Layers.
- On a legal description card, open the card menu and click Download Original Document. The source file opens in a new tab.
That entry is disabled when the description has no source file behind it, which is the case for anything you plotted by hand in the manual plotting workspace.
What you get
| Where you click | What saves |
|---|---|
| Document row, Download | The original uploaded file, or a text file of all its legal descriptions |
| Legal description row, Download | A text file of that one description |
| Layer card, Download Original Document | The original uploaded file, opened in a new tab |
There is no per description plot export
Nothing in Trace exports a single legal description as a PDF or as a CAD or GIS file. Every geometry export is project wide, so a drawing of one description alone takes two steps rather than one:
- In Manage Layers, hide every legal description you do not want, and every group holding one.
- Export the project. The drawing and the call tables rebuild from whatever is still visible.
Export a PDF plat and Export formats cover the export itself.
